This was delivered yesterday and the minute I got it I started cooking with it. I made Ham And Potato Casserole for dinner tonight. I love it. Cooking just couldn’t get any easier. In addition, I have had chili simmering in the pot all day today. I’ve had it on the 8 hour setting and so far there has been no condensation or water bubbling around the edge of the lid which is known to cause an awful mess. Definitely a great buy.

This is not my first one. I have had the other for many months now- the exact same model and there have been zero dents, scratches, or dings on the aluminum outside as others have reported. I cook with it, travel with it, store it.. unless you’re dropping it or throwing things at it, I can’t imagine having a complaint about the quality.

I enjoy having two or more slow cookers because it makes your meal planning so versatile and cooking itself so easy with so little effort being required to  throw a great meal together if not a feast.

Getting back to the Ham And Potato Casserole, we had left over ham that I needed to come up with a use for and voila there you have it! Actually this is a favorite of my children. We often times have it right after Easter when we have so much leftover ham and the kids could live on this forever. Of course, with me having so much Irish in me and loving potatoes the way I do I could live on this forever too!

Here’s the recipe:

  • 3 pounds of potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  1. Place sliced potatoes in slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix together shredded cheese, onion and ham. Mix with potatoes in slow cooker. Using the same bowl, mix together condensed soup and water. Season to taste with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pour evenly over the potato mixture.
  2. Cover, and cook on High for 4 hours.

Recipe For Slow Cooker Chili:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  1. Crumble ground beef into a skillet over medium heat. Stir garlic, oregano, chili powder, and basil into the beef; cook and stir until beef is completely browned, 7 to 10 minutes.
  2. Combine light red kidney beans, dark red kidney beans, diced tomatoes, and corn in crock of a slow cooker. Stir cooked ground beef into the bean mixture.
  3. Cook on Medium-Low for 2 hours. Stir sugar into the chili and continue cooking as long as you can wait, at least 6 hours. Season with salt and black pepper to serve.
